The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
